Words of divorce with the intention to scare

YourAssalamo alaikom.

My husband and I were having an argument. He thought I was in the middle of my period, and said the words I divorce you. He told me some hours after that he was not so angry that he didn’t know what he was saying, he only INTENDED to scare me, as he believed I was still flowing. Unfortunately, he didn’t know that my period just ended some hours before, but I did not yet make ghusl. This period was only 4 days, which is unusually short for me. I even delayed making ghusl because I thought the flow would continue…it did not.

Does this really count as one divorce? Does it matter that I did not make ghusl yet (as is my habit as soon as I know my period ends) when he said it? Please note that there was not even a trace of blood remaining.

Allah knows that this was just an error in judgment. Neither of us takes divorce lightly, nor has it ever been in my husband’s behavior to even say this word divorce.

JazakAllah khairun

Whether you were in 'Haiz' (menstruation) or not the Talaaq is valid. One Talaaq (divorce) has fallen/taken place. You should reconcile.
