A Muslim male (18 years old) made Taubah and stopped wearing non-Muslim garb (jeans, T-Shirts, etc.). One day, he was pressurized by his parents and wore non-Muslim garb. Whilst dressed like this, he looked at himself in the mirror and, in a state of depression and crying, verbally whispered to himself saying, “I am a kaafir today! I am a kaafir today!” The reference is that he is dressed like a kaafir, and not a Muslim, so he is saying that today he is a kaafir.

After that day, he made Taubah for wearing the non-Muslim clothing, but did not do anything about that statement.

Did he lose his Imaan? Was this an act of kufr?

No. It was imitating the dress of the enemies of Islaam.
