due to a chronic knee im forced to read salaat on a chair -at our musjid there are a few others who also read using a chair -almost each one has a different posture going into ruku & sajdah – some merely move their necks a few centimetres between ruku & sajdah whilst others use their backs with increase degree for sajdah. Can Mufti please advise which is more correct or is it a trivial matter and irrelevant.

These are 3 basic positions in Salaat, standing, Ruku and Sijda. Thus whilst on the chair, let normal sitting position be the standing then put hands on thigh and lean a little that will be Ruku, whilst hands on knee, more bending will be Sijda.
