As Salaam U Alaikum

I currently manage the IT department of a call centre.

The business model of the call centre is as follows : The company provides the infrastructure (PCs, telephones) and other companies hire this infrastructure from us. At times we are approached by external companies who want to lower their operational costs. We then run their call centre from our premises which saves them money. Further to that, because labor is cheap in SA (relative to the UK, US and Europe) we get a decent amount of business from these countries.

My concern is that an international lottery company has approached the company I work for and they have signed into a contract to do work for the lottery company. The agents will be calling people in the UK trying to sell them the lottery. For each sale that is concluded, my company gets paid a commission.

As the IT department, we will have to provide IT support to the lottery department and ensure that they are operational.

Please can I have some advice as to whether it is permissible for me to continue working at this company, bearing in mind that some of the profits of the company will be from the lottery.

Shukran

Do not you, yourself get involved in designing the modification of the IT system for the lottery. It will now be Makrooh to continue working there.
