Asalaamu Alaikum,

When I left my previous job last year in May, I had a choice of transferring my Provident Fund into my new companies Provident/Pension Fund, putting it into a Preservation Fund (which I chose to do as I could put it in a Shariah compliant companies Preservation Fund) or withdraw the money. Essentially, I had one opportunity of making a lump sum or part withdrawal and if a part withdrawal was done I would not be able to draw again until retirement. My money is now in a Preservation Fund and I now have a new Pension at my new work place. Do I have to pay Zakah on my money in the Preservation Fund. Also, I have a VOLUNTARY retirement annuity with a Shariah compliant company. Do I pay Zakah on the RA?

If both these funds you can remove as and when you want, then pay on the surrender value.
