Assalamualaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Respected Mufti.

How many exact number verses are there in the Quran? I heard that all the scholars agreed that it has approximately 6200 but that the scholars differed as to the other small number due to interpretation as to whether or not certain stops were stops that were only small breaths in the verse or because of the end of the ayah when the Prophet (sallAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam) recited the Quran to the Companions. Can you please elaborate or correct me if I am mistaken? I know that this is a scholarly issue but I am nonetheless interested.

Jazak Allah
