assalamualaikum. expecting my first child and wanted to is there any other any criteria besides giving a good arabic name with a good arabic meaning for naming your child. my in laws have a moulana that they follow who is in india.he has told them that a name can’t be picked before the child is born and that not any name can be given.he says that the date and time of birth have to be known first, then according to this information,the initials of the child will be “worked out” eg. they worked out that my husbands name had to start with an S.they said this is done for the good character and good life of the child.am studying alimah and have not once come across this in my studies.is there any merit to this.i dont want to cause any conflicts but am very afraid to commit any bid’ats.please advise.jazakallah

You can have name possibilities. No need for name to be determined by date/year etc. That is all baseless.
