What is the Shari ruling for attending “Islamic” fairs wherein much intermingling of the sexes take place?
Many people go to such fairs with their families to have a good time. However many people (especially the youth) do not dress modestly there. People justify participating in such fairs by citing a number of ulema present as well as the live broadcasting of Islamic radio stations. Please enlighten us on the correct ruling?

According to the Hadith, the Masaajids are the best places on the surface of the Earth and the bazaars are the worst places. Thus one may go to any bazaar, owned and run by Mislim or non - Muslim for purchase purposes and return. To go there for evil is un- Islaamic. To go there for permissible needs is permissible and for non-permissible activities is not allowed.
