Aslmalaikum, dear Mufti Ilyas, according to question ID 18474, you mentioned that ‘cupping is not sunnat.’Can you please clarify what that means? Whether dry or wet cupping is not sunnah? or did Our beloved prophet not perform it at all? I have heard many times from Ulema that it’s a sunnah and Nabi Salalahu Alayhi waslm encouraged it and practiced it, so I’d like to be sure if I’ve had the wrong idea all along. Also what qualifies something as Sunnah?

Jazakallah Khair.

When Fuqahaa (Juro-consultants) say it is Sunnat, then we will relay that.
We are in no position to classify an act as Sunnat. This has already been done by the Fuqahaa. Kindly humbly request the Alim to provide classical text stating it is Sunnat.
