Assalamu’alaykum

What is the proof, if any, for the assertion by the Tabligh Jamat that Ijtima’i Amal takes precedence over Infiradi Amal, e.g. shortening or delaying one’s Sunnah or Nawafil in order to join the Ijtima’i talk, Mashwarah, Tajweed halqah etc?

In Islaam, the majority is given preference.
Quraan, Sunnat, Ahadith, Shaari, Fiqhi principles also cater for the majority firstly then the exceptions to the general rule. At times some actions are given preference to others, e.g. a person is reading Fardh Salaat notices a blind man going to fall in the well, will break Salaat.
General benefit is given preference to individual benefit.
