As Salaamu Alaikum
I am a 28 yr old female and was diagnosed a year ago with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). There is no known cure for this illness, however I am currently on daily medication to help keep the symptoms under control. Some of these symptoms are severe, for eg. I am a pre type II Diabetic and am Insulin resistant, therefore I need to continuously maintain my glycemic index levels. My Doctor has advised me not to fast, as my GI levels tend to drop rapidly if I am unable to take my medication and eat my meals on time and this poses a severe threat to my health. I therefore request your advise, as a trusted Alim, am I exempt from fasting due to my illness and should I pay the Fidyah?
Shukran
