Assalaamo alaikum,

For Iftaar during ramadan we break fast on hearing the sound of the siren from the mosque. It so happened that last Monday the siren went on 2 minutes before iftaar time. That is the person responsible for sounding the siren forgot to add two minutes to standard iftaar time because of the higher altitude of our region. This implies that we broke fast two minutes earlier. It is only after Esha namaz that the imam informed the mussallis of this error. Now some people says that the roza is not valid and we have to replace it after ramadan while others do not know what to do. Please shed light on this matter.

Find out the exact time of sunset.
If the siren was even 1 minute or on the exact time of sunset then the fast is valid, otherwise not.
If siren sounded before sunset and iftaari was made then the fast was not valid, then Qadha has to be made.
