Is one’s Zakaat discharged if it is entrusted to a Charitable Organisation for distribution. A Moulana states that such Organisations are not bound to effect distribution of funds entrusted to them and, in most cases, the funds are apparently distributed as the Organisation concerned deems fit. There is thus the possibility that the funds may not be distributed in accordance with Shariah and therefore one’s Zakaat would consequently be not discharged. In the circumstances, how does one go about finding someone to whom Zakaat can be given?

It is best to distribute your Zakaat yourself to your Kith and Kin, relatives, neighbors, locality, province and country to those who are deserving to receive Zakaat.
Most organisations which collect Zakaat do not know the laws, do not have Ulema as supervisors and no proper balance sheets.
Give to Darul Uloom and Ulema bodies which have a pious practical Ulema and proper balance sheets.
