assallaammualaikum. some people nowdays are getting divorced for financial gain ie. divorcing in a court of law in order to obtain the spouses pension ie. their half but are still living together claiming that the nikkah is not affected , still valid and no islamic talaaq has been given. is this acceptable in terms of sharia ? may a person undergo a civil (in terms of the matrimonial law of this country) divorce for convenience and still remain in nikkah to their spouse ie. is the nikkah valid ? would the same apply if it is a divorce not for convenience (divorce in court for purpose of divorce and no talaaq is given , is the nikkah still valid).wassallaam shukran
