You have heard correctly. Meaning of Hadith I (Rasulullaah (S.A.W)) am not responsible for the one who sleeps after Asr - meaning if he gets up mad I am not responsible. This refers to sleeping without valid excuse.

Question
Assalamualaiikum Mufti Elias,
I had a question about the Tafsir set that I purchased several years ago:
Quote from "Illuminating Discourses of the Noble Qur'an"
"Many commentators, including the author of 'Bayaanul Qur'aan' have mentioned that the above verse also concerns the incident of the honey..... However, many commentators narrate another incident. They state that Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) was once in his quarters with his wife Hadhrat Hafsa (R.A.) when she requested permission to leave. In her absence, Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) shared the bed with his slave girl Hadhrat Maariya Qibtiyya (R.A.) who was the mother of his son Hadhrat Ibraheem (R.A.). Returning prematurely, Hadhrat Hafsah (R.A.) Noticed that the door was closed and realized what happened. When Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) again met with Hadhrat Hafsa (R.A.), she complained that he had not been fair to her by using her turn with him for sharing a bed with Hadhrat Maariya (R.A.). Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) explained to her that he had acted within the law of Shari'ah because Hadhrate Maariya (R.A) was his lawful slave girl. However to please Hadhrat Hafsah (R.A.) Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) declared Hadhrate Maariya unlawful for himself and told Hadhrat Hafsah (R.A.) not to mention the incident to anyone else. However when Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wasallam) had left, Hdhrat Hafsah (R.A.) gave Hadhrat Aisha (R.A) the good news that Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wasallam has severed further contact with Hadhrat Maariya."
Now this is when the ayah states "Oh Nabi, seeking the pleasure of your wives, why do you declare unlawful that which Allah has made lawful for you?" (Ayah 1).
My question is, could he wait for Hafsah to come back? It was her time in bed with him.
Answer
Both were permissinle for him for one was his lawful slave girl.

Can you explain what is meant by the following Hadith:
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you and when you meet any one of them on the roads force him to go to the narrowest part of it.
I think I have a misunderstanding of the hadith. If a muslim state exisited, how would this ruling apply? How does it apply to muslims in non muslim lands?
