|(1) Islaamic History||The nation of Thamud and the Nabi Saalih (AS)|
|After the destruction of the nation of First Aad, those who were left from them were known as the Second Aad, and later became known as the Thamud. Even today the ruins of Madaa’in Saalih exists between Madinah and Tabook, which was where the people of the Thamud lived. These people mastered the art of carving homes from the mountains and, like their predecessors the Aad, the Thamud also worshipped idols and suffered from the disease of pride because of their strength. Allaah sent Hadhrat Saalih (AS) as a Nabi to them. Since childhood, Hadhrat Saalih (AS) displayed great intelligence and the people always entertained great hopes in him. However, Allaah had other greater plans for him and made him a Nabi.|
|(2) Allaah’s Power||The camel|
|Amongst the many animals that Allaah has created on earth, one of the most striking is the camel. Allaah has created such a capacity within it that it can store a week’s supply of water and use it when it needs it most in the desert. Its feet are wide and soft because of which it does not sink into the softy desert sand and is able to walk with ease and speed. Through His power, Allaah has perfectly adapted every animal to its surroundings.|
|(3) A Fardh||The wife’s share from her husband’s estate|
|Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “They (your wives) shall inherit a quarter of what you (husbands) leave if you have no children. (However) If you have children, then they shall inherit an eighth of what you leave after the bequests you make and (after settling your) debts”.
[Surah Nisaa, verse 12]
|(4) A Du’aa from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW)||The Du’aa of Istikhaarah|
|Hadhrat Jaabir (RA) reports that Rasulullaah (SAW) taught them the method of Istikhaara whenever any matter arose just as he would teach them the Surahs of the Qur’aan. The Du’aa is:
اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْتَخِيْرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ، وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسَأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيْمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَٓا أَقْدِرُ، وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ، وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوْبِ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هٰذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِّي فِي دِيْنِيْ وَمَعِيْشَتِيْ وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِيْ فَيَسِّرْهُ لِيْ ، ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِيْ فِيْهِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِيْ فِيْ دِيْنِي وَمَعِيْشَتِيْ وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِيْ، فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّيْ وَاصْرِفْنِيْ عَنْهُ وَاقْدِرْ لِيَ الخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرضِنِيْ بِهِ
Translation: ‘O Allaah! I seek goodness from You by means of Your Knowledge, I seek strength from You by means of Your Power and I ask You for Your Great Favour and Bounty because You have the Power (to do anything) and I have no power (to do anything), You have knowledge (of everything) and I have no knowledge and only You have complete and total knowledge of all the hidden things. O Allaah! You know if this work* is good (and) in my favour, with regards to my Deen, my worldly life, and the end result of my work, or with regards to my worldly life and the my life in the Hereafter, (if it is) then ordain it and easen it for me and grant me blessing in it. And You know if this work* is not good (and not) in my favour with regard to my Deen, my worldly affairs, and the end result of my work, or with regard to my worldly life and my life in the Hereafter, (if it is not) then keep this work away from and keep me away from it. Grant me goodness wherever it may be (in whatever is best) and make me happy with it.

|(5) A Nafl||Istikhaara|
|Hadhrat Jaabir (RA) reports that Rasulullaah (SAW) taught them the method of Istikhaara whenever any matter arose just as he would teach them the Surahs of the Qur’aan.
The method of performing Istikhaara is to perform two Rakaahs Nafl Salaah, followed by the Du’aa of Istikhaara with sincerity and concentration. Think of the matter at hand when reciting the words هَذَا الأَمْر and then go to bed, sleeping on the right side, and facing the Qibla. One may then see the matter at hand in a dream, he may come to a decision in his heart or something may arise that will either assist or pose as an obstacle to the matter at hand. Whatever it is, one should act on the decision that comes to heart when one wakes up.
|(6) A Sin||Allaah’s wrath when a person takes a false oath|
|Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “Verily, those who purchase a small gain (of this world) at the cost of (breaking) Allaah’s covenant and (at the cost of breaking) their oaths (that they make with others), such people have no portion (of good) in the Aakhirah. Allaah will neither speak to them (with compassion) nor look at them (with mercy) on the Day of Qiyaamah, and will not purify (forgive) them. They shall have a painful punishment”.
[Surah Aal Imraan, verse 77]
|(7) This World||The life of this world is nothing|
|Allaah says, “Do you prefer the life of this world to the Aakhirah? The pleasure of this worldly life is but little (insignificant) compared to the (comfort and pleasures of the) Aakhirah”.
[Surah Towbah, verse 38]
|(8) The Aakhirah||Where people will be on the Day of Qiyaamah|
|Hadhrat Aa’isha (RA) once asked Rasulullaah (SAW), “Where will people be on the day when the earth and heavens will be destroyed and then recreated when the trumpet is blown for the first time?” Rasulullaah (SAW) replied, “On the bridge of Siraat”.
|(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW)||Medical science|
|Rasulullaah (SAW) stated that a person will be held responsible on the Day of Qiyaamah if he treated anyone without the relevant knowledge.

This Hadith makes it evident that an experienced doctor or Hakeem should be consulted when ill.
|(10) Advice from
|Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “When a person is in need of food or anything else and he conceals his need from people, Allaah will undertake the responsibility to provide for him a year’s sustenance from Halaal sources.”
