(1) Islaamic History Sultan Mahmood Ghaznawi (RA)
Sultan Mahmood Ghaznawi (RA) was a famous king in the channels of Islaamic history. He was the son of Ameer Subuktageen and was born in the year 357 A.H. He received the highest available education and became the king after the death of his father. The Empire grew from strength to strength during his reign and many regions were conquered during this time. He established justice and peace and treated Muslims and non-Muslims with equity. He kept watch over the affairs of the people and ensured that all their needs were fulfilled. He ensured that the non-Muslims received the rights due to them and even granted them freedom to worship as they pleased in their places of worship. In fact, he would often even give them more than was due to them. However, he did not tolerate indecency and corruption and vehemently eradicated them. Sultan Mahmood (RA) was a man of immense knowledge and learning and showed great reverence for the Ulema. He established a large institute of learning in Ghaznawi and set up a large trust fund to pay for the expenses of the institute. There were so many learned scholars amongst his populace that he was the envy of all the other rulers. He ruled with justice and kindness for approximately 35 years and eventually left this temporary abode of this world in the year 421 A.H., leaving behind a legacy of tremendous accomplishments that will continue to impress people until the Day of Qiyaamah.
(2) Rasulullaah (SAW) ’s Miracle Hadhrat Hudhayfah (RA) feels no cold
Hadhrat Hudhayfah (RA) reports that it was extremely cold during the Battle of the Trench and the wind blew fiercely. “Who will gather intelligence for me from the enemy?” Rasulullaah (SAW) asked the Sahabah (RA). Because it was so cold to go out and the Sahabah (RA) did not have proper warm clothing, no one volunteered for the task. Rasulullaah (SAW) repeated the request thrice, but still met no response. He then said, “O Hudhayfah! Stand up and gather some intelligence about the enemy caravan.” Because Rasulullaah (SAW) took his name, Hadhrat Hudhayfah (RA) stood up and proceeded. Because he had responded to the command of Rasulullaah (SAW), Hadhrat Hudhayfah (RA) says that he did not feel the cold at all and actually felt that he was walking on a hot day.

(3) A Fardh Keeping a beard
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Trim your moustaches and allow your beards to grow.”

The beard is a hallmark of Islaam and is Waajib (compulsory) in the Shari’ah.

(4) A Sunnah The Du’aa to be recited during the Hajj
The following Du’aa should be recited when a person is performing Hajj:

 

رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُّسْلِمَةً لَّكَ

وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَاوَتُبْ عَلَيْنَآ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ

TRANSLATION: “O our Rabb! Make us obedient to You and make from our descendants (progeny) a nation (a group) that is also obedient to You. Show us (teach us) our rites (the manner in which we should worship You) and accept our repentance (forgive our mistakes). Without doubt, You are the Most Pardoning, the Most Merciful.”

[Surah Baqarah, verse 128]

(5) An Important Act and its Virtue Performing Nawaafil Salaah at home
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “After performing your (Fardh) Salaah in the Masjid, reserve a portion of your Salaah for the house because it is on account of Salaah that Allaah showers blessing upon the house.”

(6) A Sin The worst sin is Shirk
Allaah says, “Verily Allaah does not forgive that Shirk (and kufr) be committed, but may forgive all (sins) besides this for whom He wills. Whoever commits Shirk has indeed invented a terrible sin.”

[Surah Nisaa, verse 48]

(7) This World The things of this world are temporary
Allaah says in the Qur’aan, “What (pleasures and wealth) is with you (in this world) shall come to an end and what is with Allaah (the pleasures of the Aakhirah) will last forever. We shall most definitely reward those who exercise sabr for the good deeds that they do”.

[Surah Nahl, verse 96]

(8) The Aakhirah The depth of Jahannam
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “If a rock is thrown from the rim of Jahannam it will not reach the bottom of Jahannam even after falling for seventy years. Do you then still wonder at Allaah’s statement when He says that He will fill Jahannam with man and Jinn?”

(9) Cures from the Qur’aan and Rasulullaah (SAW) Treating Leprosy
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “Seven Ajwa dates of Madinah taken every morning are effective in treating leprosy.”

(10) Advice from

Rasulullaah (SAW)

 
Rasulullaah (SAW) said, “When any of you is refused permission to enter after requesting permission thrice or receives no reply, then he should leave.”
